OVERVIEW

The project is being executed at one of the busiest junctions in Lahore. Massive traffic jams occurs during peak hours due to traffic streaming towards the commercial and residential hub, Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Center, University of Central Punjab and various housing societies .The objective of this Project is to provide a safe, congestion free and smooth traffic facility to the commuters. This flyover will  provide an efficient and smooth facility at the crossing for through traffic plying on Khayaban-e-Firdousi and Khayaban-e-Jinnah, thereby facilitating the residents of Southern Lahore travelling to suburbs of Lahore and vice versa. This Project will greatly benefit the road users by reduction in the vehicle operating costs ,saving time, better riding quality and improved geometry. The cost of the project is RS 809 Million with completion period of 80 days.

OVERVIEW

Along with renovation of the Minar-i-Pakistan (Pakistan Resolution Movement), the project features expansion of the Iqbal Park by including it in the stretch of Circular Road between the park and Lahore Fort.

The 125 acre green oasis is surrounded almost entirely by the old city of Lahore. Visitors can lounge on rolling lawns and take in the panoramic view of the symbolic Minar-e-Pakistan, the majestic Lahore Fort, the iconic Azadi Interchange and the historic Badshahi Mosque that also shelters the tomb of Allama Iqbal (1877-1938), a Muslim poet and one of the great spiritual thinkers and teachers of all times. For those who prefer a more active itinerary, 4 kilometre long walkways provide ample opportunities for running and cycling.

In addition the guests can take a stroll through the cascade surrounded by four memorial monuments, ride in the soft rail that runs along the 2 kilometre long Buggy Track or picnic near the lake and enjoy 800 feet long musical fountain performance. Moreover, the park features lush greenery, ample seating and artistic food courts and shopping kiosks for visitors.

A history museum and an outdoor amphitheatre are under construction with targeted completion date March 23, 2016 where the park-goers would be able to enjoy cultural performance during the colder winter months.

The metro will provide an easy mode of transportation and will transport around 2,50,000 individuals on daily basis. The Lahore Orange Line Metro Train is a 27.1 km long project that will help the city of Lahore reduce congestion caused by buses and cars and will be a rapid mode of transportation with different stations spread around the city.

The project will be a stepping stone that will transform the overall transportation system of Pakistan in the coming years. The project will not only help overcome major traffic problems but will also save the time of individuals in commuting from one place to another without any hassle.
